Guests gathered at Drottningholm Palace’s chapel to see the fifth in line to the throne christened. The 4-month-old wore the same cotton and lace smocked gown worn by Prince Gustaf Adolf in 1906 and more recently by Princesses Estelle and Leonore, and Princes Nicolas and Oscar. His father and aunts, Crown Princess Victoria and Princess Madeleine have also worn the priceless heirloom.
Princess Sofia was perfectly appointed in a custom white lace Ida Sjöstedt outfit. She accented the ensemble with a pearl headband and heels. Decked out in his full naval uniform and sporting some scruffy facial hair, Prince Carl Philip’s look can only be described as downright dashing. The two stood side by side as Archbishop Antje Jackelén performed the ceremony. Prince Carl Philip’s older sister and the expected future queen of Sweden, Crown Princess Victoria, was named a godmother and wore a pink Elie Saab lace dress and pale pumps. Princess Sofia’s sister, Lina Frejd, also holds the title of godmother along with childhood friend, Wendy Larsson. The godfathers are Carl Philip’s close friend, Jan-Åke Hansson, and cousin, Victor Magnuson. Afterward the ceremony, a reception and lunch were held for a more intimate group at Drottningholm Palace.
